Organized by PÔLE Québec Chaudière-Appalaches and Defence R & D Canada, with the support of the Technopôle - Defence and Security, Defence and Security Innovation 2005 is a unique Canada-wide event that represents an opportunity in Canada to gather representatives from government, the Canadian Forces, civilian authorities involved in crisis response, research institutes and the private sector to ensure the safety and security of all Canadian citizens.

Since 2001, Canada has launched new initiatives to better protect its citizens, critical infrastructures and borders. The scientific and technological challenges are multiple and complex for detecting, preventing and recovering from a wide range of potential threats.

Among the great challenges of today, Defence and Security Innovation 2005 will address four major ones :

• Prevent, Prepare for and Respond to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Threats


• Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP)


• Human Aspects of Counter-terrorism and Borders and Territory Protection


• Capability Integration towards Emergency Preparedness
